With a Church Video Licence (CVL) you can show authorised film scenes during your regular services.
If your venue is covered by a PRS for Music licence, then you can show authorised films during all church activities.
The CVL covers most major film producers, meaning you won’t need to contact the copyright owners each time you want to show a film in your church.
PRS for Music administers the rights for music featured on a film soundtrack. Therefore, you will need the PRS for Music Church Licence as well as the CVL if you show films during activities such as social and outreach events, or youth and children’s clubs.
When showing films don’t forget:
|You CAN||You CAN’T|
|Ask for a contribution from people||Charge an entrance fee.|
|Show any number of films/film scenes from the authorised producers signed||Show any films – check the authorised producers list|
|Promote the film title within your church (notice board, newsletter, etc)||Promote the film title outside of your church (including billboard, websites etc)|
|Show films from television series that have been published by an authorised studio.||Show films that you have recorded from television.|
|Put the DVD in your computer and cue it up||Burn the film onto another media for adding into a presentation.|
